Will Smith Says You Need To Do Two Things To Be Successful

Will Smith says you need to do two things in life in order to be successful.

He says 1) You need to read a lot and 2) You need to run a lot.

Will Smith says reading is important if you want to be successful because a lot of people have gone ahead of you in life, which means you can learn from them.

You don’t need to learn everything on your own and do everything the hard way. You can learn what works and what doesn’t by reading about the experiences of other people.

And the reason Will Smith says you need to run a lot is because when you’re pushing yourself as hard as you possibly can and you feel like your lungs are about to burst and you push through that, you’re training your mind to push through adversity.

And that ability will naturally overflow into other areas of your life. If you can persevere and push through the pain of running, then you can persevere and push through any obstacle in life.

Will Smith says,

“The keys to life are running and reading. When you’re running, there’s a little person that talks to you and says, “Oh I’m tired. My lung’s about to pop. I’m so hurt. There’s no way I can possibly continue.” You want to quit. If you learn how to defeat that person when you’re running. You will learn how to not quit when things get hard in your life. For reading: there have been gazillions of people that have lived before all of us. There’s no new problem you could have–with your parents, with school, with a bully. There’s no new problem that someone hasn’t already had and written about it in a book.”

  1. Very nice post! The perspective on reading is definitely something that caught my attention.

To me, instead of running/jogging though, as long as you exercise and be disciplined about it? The same effect will happen for you. I personally do weight training and it definitely permeates into the mindset and attitude towards things in life so I can vouch for his words!

I mean hell, you carry weights which hurt you and suppose that you keep doing that almost everyday of a week? When something or someone at work gives you problem, at times you’d think “Oh this is nothing compare to what I keep dishing out to myself every gym session” LOL!

    Thanks for sharing bud 😉

    1. I’m glad the perspective on reading interested you, that’s great:) And yea, anything that requires discipline and pushes you is okay. so weight training I think definitely applies here:) It doesn’t necessarily have to be running. But when it comes to reading however, it has to be reading. YouTube videos just don’t cut it in this area. I’m glad you liked it Benjamin!:)
